What is the capacity of the buildings?
For a comfortable seated reception we recommend no more than 200 guests.
Ceremony building can also seat a maximum of 200.
Are you open year-round?
We host weddings from June through September.
Where are you located?
10 minutes NE from Altona, Manitoba. 2 Miles south of Highway 14 and 3 miles east of Highway 30.
Do have washrooms?
Yes, our facility has full service washrooms. 4 women, 2 men’s and one family/wheelchair accessible.
Is the building air conditioned or heated?
Both buildings have an air circulating/heating system but this does not mean our spaces are fully temperature controlled once the large doors and shutter windows are opened.
Do you have an onsite caterer we have to use?
No, Prairie Homestead doesn’t have a caterer that you are required to use. You are free to hire any caterer, food truck or bring in your own pre prepared food to serve.
What is included in the food prep shed?
Our food prep shed includes a 3 door commercial cooler, counter space and sink. Buffet tables available for caterer use. Please note that since we do not have a commercial kitchen we do not have any appliances to cook food or wash dishes.
Do you supply dishes or glassware?
We do not supply any dishes or glassware. These items must be arranged through your caterer or rental company. If your caterer does not assist in the cleanup of dishware a $300 cleanup fee will be added to your invoice and our staff will assist with table clearing. No glassware to be used in bar service.
Do you supply linens?
Our tables have stained wooden tops that most choose to leave uncovered. Ivory table runners and one large ivory table cloth to cover head table is included.
How does alcohol service work?
You must purchase a temporary special event liquor permit through Manitoba Liquor and Gaming. No corkage fees. You are responsible to bring in all alcohol, cups, mix, ice, garnishes etc. Homemade alcohol is not permitted.
When can I book a tour of the venue?
Please email email@example.com or text 204-304-0796. Please note that tours are not available when the venue is booked. This means we are usually unable to accommodate weekend showings from June –September. Monday through Thursday, tours can be scheduled after 5pm. Tours will not be available from November-February.
Do you allow pets?
No, clients and guests are not permitted to bring pets onto the property.
What time does the reception need to end by?
1:00am – at this time the doors must be locked and all guests must be off of the property.
What is required to hold my date?
A $1,000 non-refundable deposit will secured your date. We accept e-transfer, cash or cheque.
The remaining balance of your rental invoice will be due 3 months prior to your event.
